Product Options
Let customers customise their order — sauce choices, sizes, extras, allergen-free swaps and anything else that varies per item.
How options work
Options are organised into groups. A group is a named set of choices — for example "Burger Sauce" with options Ketchup, Mayo and BBQ. Each option can have a price add-on (or zero if it's included).
You assign groups to individual products. When a cashier taps a product that has option groups, the options modal opens before the item is added to the cart. The cashier selects the customer's choices, the total updates, and the item goes into the cart with the selections noted.
Creating an option group
Go to Products → Options tab and tap + Add Group.
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Group Name | Shown as a heading in the options modal, e.g. "Burger Sauce", "Spice Level", "Extras" |
| Multi-select | On — customer can pick more than one option (e.g. multiple extras). Off — customer picks exactly one. |
| Required | On — cashier must select at least one option before adding to cart. Off — optional. |
Under Options, tap + Add Option for each choice. Give it a name and a price add-on (leave at 0.00 if it's included in the base price). Add as many options as you need.
Tap Create Group to save.
"Burger Sauce" — single-select, optional, options: None / Ketchup / Mayo / BBQ (all £0.00)
"Extras" — multi-select, optional, options: Add Bacon +£1.50 / Add Cheese +£0.50 / Add Egg +£0.50
"Spice Level" — single-select, required, options: Mild / Medium / Hot (all £0.00)
Assigning groups to products
Open any product for editing (Products tab → pencil icon). Scroll to the Option Groups section at the bottom of the form. Tick the checkbox next to each group that applies to this product. A product can have multiple groups — they all appear in the options modal in the order listed.
Save the product. From that point on, tapping the product on the till opens the options modal automatically.
At the till — selecting options
When a cashier taps a product with options, the options modal appears showing the product name, short description, ingredients (if any) and the option groups. Each group is shown with its choices as large tap-friendly buttons.
- ✓ For single-select groups, tapping a choice deselects any previous selection
- ✓ For multi-select groups, tap each choice you want — tap again to deselect
- ✓ The item total updates live as price add-ons are selected
- ✓ Required groups are highlighted in red if you try to confirm without selecting
Tap Add to Cart to confirm. The item appears in the cart with the selected options listed below the product name.
Editing options in the cart
If a customer changes their mind, tap the small ✎ pencil icon next to the product name in the cart. The item is removed and the options modal reopens. Select the new choices and confirm — the updated item is added back to the cart.
Options on receipts and kitchen tickets
Selected options appear on the receipt indented below the product name with a ↳ arrow. On the Kitchen Display, options appear in amber below each item so the kitchen can see exactly how to prepare the order.
Deleting an option group
Tap the 🗑 icon on the group in the Options tab and confirm. The group is removed from all products it was assigned to automatically — no manual cleanup needed.
