QuickPOS

Opening the checkout

Tap Charge £X.XX at the bottom of the cart. The checkout panel shows the order total, any discount, tax breakdown and the available payment methods. Which methods appear depends on what you have enabled in Settings → Payments.

Order numbers

Every completed sale is automatically assigned a sequential order number — #1, #2, #3 and so on. The counter resets to #1 at midnight each day. The order number appears:

  • Prominently on the payment success screen so the cashier can call it out
  • At the top of the printed thermal receipt in large text
  • On the kitchen ticket so kitchen staff know which order to prepare
  • On the Collection Display so customers can see when their order is ready
💡
If a customer orders via the self-ordering menu, they receive the same order number on their device screen and take it to the counter to pay. The cashier loads it from the Pending Orders panel and the number carries through to the receipt.

Service mode fields

Depending on the service mode, additional fields appear at the top of the checkout:

ModeFields
Takeaway / CollectionCustomer name (optional)
Eat InTable number (required), customer name (optional)
DeliveryCustomer name, phone number and address (all required)

Payment methods

The payment methods available depend on what is enabled in Settings → Payments. Enable or disable each method to match how your business operates.

Cash

Select Cash to reveal the cash payment section. Enter the amount the customer hands over. Quick tender buttons appear for common round amounts — tap one to fill the amount instantly. The Change Due display updates in real time as you type.

💡
If the customer pays the exact amount, tap the quick tender button showing the exact total — it's the fastest path to completing the sale.

Card Manual

Select Card Manual and tap Confirm Payment. QuickPOS records the sale immediately. Process the actual card payment on your card terminal, phone payment app or any other card acceptance device separately. No communication happens between QuickPOS and the card device in this mode — it is a manual confirmation.

💡
This mode works with any card acceptance device — a standalone terminal, Stripe's Tap to Pay app, SumUp, iZettle or any other reader. QuickPOS handles the order, your payment device handles the card.

Stripe Terminal

When a supported Stripe Terminal reader is configured, selecting Stripe Terminal sends the payment amount directly to the reader. The customer taps, inserts or swipes their card on the physical reader. QuickPOS polls for payment confirmation and completes the order automatically when the payment succeeds.

  • Amount sent automatically — no manual entry on the reader
  • Supports contactless, chip and PIN, and magstripe
  • Cancel button available if the customer changes their mind
  • Times out after 3 minutes if no card is presented

See Payments for setup instructions and Supported Hardware for compatible readers.

Split payment

Select Split when the customer wants to pay partly in cash and partly by card. Enter the Cash Amount — the card balance is calculated automatically and shown clearly so you know exactly what to put through on your card device.

Confirming payment

Tap Confirm Payment. QuickPOS will:

  • Assign the next sequential order number
  • Save the order to history
  • Decrement stock for all items sold
  • Send the ticket to the Order Display with the order number
  • Show the success screen with the order number and receipt preview
  • Update the Customer Facing Display with payment confirmation
  • Add the order to the Collection Display

The success screen

After confirming payment the success screen shows the order number prominently — call this out to the customer so they know what to listen for on the collection display. Below it is a receipt preview with all items, options, tax breakdown, total and payment method. For cash payments the change due is shown prominently.

Tap Print to send the receipt to a connected printer. Tap Done to clear the cart and start the next sale.

Thermal receipt

The printed receipt includes:

  • Order number — large, at the very top
  • Business name, address, phone, website and VAT number
  • Date, time and cashier first name
  • Service mode and table number or delivery address
  • All items with quantities and options
  • Tax breakdown, total, payment method and change due
  • Receipt footer message (configurable in Settings)
  • Delivery address printed large at the bottom for drivers
💡
Receipts are optimised for 80mm thermal printers. Use your browser print settings to select your printer and disable headers/footers for the best result.
