Privacy Policy
How QuickPOS handles your data — the short version is that it doesn't, because everything stays on your hardware.
Data storage
QuickPOS is a locally-installed desktop application. All data created by QuickPOS — including products, categories, orders, staff details, settings and sales history — is stored in a folder on the computer where QuickPOS is installed. This data never leaves your premises unless you choose to copy or move it yourself.
QuickPOS does not connect to any external server during normal operation. An internet connection is not required to use QuickPOS.
What we do not collect
QuickPOS does not collect, process or transmit:
- ✓ Sales data or order history
- ✓ Product catalogues or pricing
- ✓ Customer names, addresses or contact details
- ✓ Staff names or PINs
- ✓ Business details or revenue figures
- ✓ Usage analytics or telemetry
Stripe payments
If you choose to enable the Customer Self-Ordering feature and configure Stripe, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. QuickPOS never stores, processes or transmits card numbers or payment credentials. Stripe's privacy policy governs how Stripe handles payment data. QuickPOS only receives a payment confirmation reference from Stripe once a payment is completed.
Software updates
Checking for and downloading updates requires an internet connection and involves a request to GitHub's servers to check for new releases. This is a standard HTTPS request and does not include any personal or business data.
Your responsibilities
Because your business data is stored locally on your hardware, you are responsible for securing that hardware, creating regular backups and complying with any applicable data protection regulations in your jurisdiction — such as the UK GDPR if you store customer personal data.
See Data & Backup for guidance on backing up your QuickPOS data.
